The fifteenth “EcOlympics“ in a row were held on Wednesday, 16th May in Sombor, in the primary school “Dositej Obradović”. The kayaker Antonija Nadj, a member of the Olympic Team of Serbia, shared her expectations of the Olympic Games in London with the pupils.
Like in the previous “EcOlympics“, through four thematic units, by playing games and socializing, the participants learnt what the basic Olympic values are, as well as why playing sports was important and good for them. Antonija shared her experience acquired in practicing sports with the participants, replied to the children’s questions and talked about how many sacrifices she had made, but also what sports had given to her.
The children were interested to know which athletes Antonija would like to meet in London, as well as how many medals she had won in her career to date. “I hope that in the Games in London I will have the opportunity to meet many leading figures from the realm of sports. Personally, my favourite athlete is Michael Phelps and I hope that I will meet him in the Olympic Village. The last time when I was counting my medals, I reached the number 280...“, Antonija said.
The Branch Manager of Vojvodjanska banka in Sombor, Mr Branko Vučković, addressed the children, and, together with Antonija Nadj, visited all workshops held that day in the primary school “Dositej Obradović”.
